Day 1: Arrive at Guwahati and Proceed to Shillong
Arrive at Guwahati and proceed to Shillong (130 kms - 3 hrs). Enroute visit Umiam Lake. Visit Museums around the area (e.g. Military Museum).
Day 2: Visits around Shillong
Visit Elephant Falls (15 kms). In the afternoon visit Mawphlang (25 kms from Shillong), a forest area which is considered Sacred by local Khasi community and visitors are allowed via an entry to visit. Its a large forest area (700 acres) where one needs walk around preferably with a guide. Excellent for botany lovers and guests who love nature walks.
Day 3: Day Excursion to Cherrapunjee
Day Excursion to Cherapunjee (56 kms). Cherrapunjee is one of the highest rainfall areas in the world. View points within couple of kms of Cherrapunjee offers stunning views of the forests, valleys, waterfalls and plains beyond. Short hike to experience Living Root Bridges, what is unique to Cherrapunjee. Return Shillong by late afternoon. Shopping in Police Bazaar in evening.
Day 4: Travel to Kaziranga
Travel to Kaziranga (260 kms - 7.5 hours). Kaziranga is is a renowned Wildlife Destination and is visited for the Wildlife and Bird watching Experience it offers. One can spot one-horned Rhinos and wide ranging migratory Birds (Tiger population is healthy but not sighted as easily as other parks in Central India)
Day 5: Morning Elephant Safari and Evening Jeep Safari in Kaziranga
Early morning elephant safari and post lunch can visit to handloom center, craft village. Evening Jeep safari in Kaziranga.
Day 6: Proceed to Bomdila
Proceed to Bomdila (8000 ft asl - 245 kms - 8 hrs). Bomdila is a beautiful small town from where one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range.
Day 7: Proceed to Tawang
Proceed to Tawang (185 kms - 7 hours) via Sella Pass at 13,700 ft. The route is blessed with exceptional Himalayan beauty and drive is nothing short of an experience. Tawang (10000 ft asl) is the largest Monastery in India and is one of the oldest. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa school and has a religious association with Drepung Monastery in Lhasa.
Day 8: Spend a day at Tawang
Spend a day at Tawang. Visit Tawang Monastery complex and spend time to experience spirituality of the area. Guests can look to undertake short walks around the area, visit market and nearby lakes.
Day 9: Tawang - Dirang
Proceed to Dirang (5000 ft asl - 145 kms - 7 hrs). Dirang is a transit stay enroute.
Day 10: Proceed to Tezpur
Proceed to Tezpur (205 kms - 7 hrs). Time Permitting explore plantations around the area.
Day 11: Departure
Depart to Guwahati (166 kms - 4 hours) for onward journey.
